2020

This has been a devastating year – no two ways about it. Despite everything, we’ve been truly inspired by the resourcefulness and adaptability of creatives in bringing optimism to our screens, and a continued attention to themes of climate change and sustainability.

As 2020 draws to a close, we’re looking back over the articles we’ve shared this year on the A La Luz blog. From our most recent post – a thought-provoking exchange between Rebecca Partridge and Simon Faithfull – to the beginnings of our Art in a Time of Climate Crisis series, which we’ll resume next year.

We’ve had Arctic perspectives from artists Caroline McGonigal, Angela Gilmour and Jane Rushton. And as well as individual artists, this year we’ve also enjoyed working with SCALENO Collective and The Auction Collective. Back in May, A La Luz itself was placed under the spotlight by FairPlanet.

Further contributions have come from Louise Barrington, Sophie Capron, Fofo Kalfa, Katy Nixon, and many more. As ever, we’d love to hear from you, too. Has the climate crisis changed the way you create?

Looking forward, in 2021 we’ll launch the Open Call Points of Return, which will take the form of an online exhibition on this website, aimed at shedding light on the wide-ranging environmental issues the world faces in this time of climate crisis, whilst also presenting paths to possible solutions. More on that soon.
